Internet Error Messages
It is frustrating when you get an error message when you are browsing the Internet. The good news is when you get one of these error messages, there is rarely anything wrong with your computer. The bad news is that you didn't get where you were going on the Internet.

Messages Explained
404 Not Found
This is the most common error message you will come across. It usually occurs when the page you are looking for has been removed or you typed in a wrong address.

Check for typos in your address or try a new search. Often, you can delete the extension and go back to the main webpage and look to see if the page has been moved. It is possible the owner of the page has deleted or moved it.

401 Unauthorized or 403 Forbidden
This message means you have entered a username or password incorrectly. 403 could also mean you don't have authority to view this page.

Check your username and password. Or contact the website administrator if you think you've received this message in error.

408 Request Timeout
This message means you might have click on a link before the whole page loaded. You may also see it if you stopped a page from loading.

Try again and be more patient with the large or slow loading page. Don't click too soon. You may also try to refresh and wait for it to fully load.

500 Internal Error or or 502 Service Overloaded    This message means that the webpage is having technical difficulties. It could be a particularly popular page at this moment and the server where it is hosted can't keep up. There is a traffic jam on that particular site temporarily.

Try again later.

503 Service Unavailable
Simalr to 500 or 502, this means that the page is down for awhile. Maybe the hosts are doing maintenance or there is a power outage somewhere along the route.

Try again another day.
